How do I make a relay call from my instant messaging service?
To place a relay call through your instant messaging service, you will need to send a message to the screen name "My IP Relay" (on AOL Instant Messenger) just like you would when you contact an individual. The message area will open with a display window as well as a text window for typing.

  • To Place a call type the number you want to call and then send the text.
  • For Customer Service information type HELP and then send the text.
  • To end a call type END CALL and then send the text.

The My IP Relay service works on all devices that have AOL Instant Messenger (AIM®) service installed.

I don't have AOL Instant Messenger on my PC. How do I get it?
Go to www.AIM.com and download AIM to your PC.

How do I reach a Spanish Relay Operator?/¿Cómo me comunico con una operadora en Español?

  • Click on My IP Relay
  • Type "hi"
  • A menu will appear. Type "CALL"
  • At the prompt, type "Spanish Operator" and wait for the Operator to respond. When the operator responds, type the number you wish to dial. Escriba "Operadora en Español" y espere que la operadora le responda. Cuando la operadora responde, escriba el número que usted desea discar.

How can I enter special instructions?

What is the screen name I use to place an IP-Relay call through my instant messaging service?
My IP Relay is the screen name you will enter into the AOL Buddy List to place a relay call.

How do I add "My IP Relay" to my AIM Buddy List window?
Select "Setup" from the toolbar at the bottom of your Instant Messenger application once you have logged in. A new window will launch and then select the "Add Buddy" icon at the bottom. This will allow you to add the My IP Relay screen name to your buddy list. Once you have entered My IP Relay to your list select "Return to Buddy List" located at the bottom of your screen. You will then return to the application window where the new screen name should appear.

  • Add Buddy.
  • Type My IP Relay in the "Screen Name" field.
  • Click "Save".

How do I print my conversations from the AIM service?
You can print your AIM conversation at any time. From the chat window, select "File" from the toolbar. Select "Print" from the menu list and insure that your printer is connected and ready to print.

How do I save my call conversations from AIM?
You can save your conversation at any time by selecting "File" or "Conversation" from the chat window and then selecting "save." You can save the conversation as either text or as html to view in a web browser.

Can somebody call me through my AIM?
Yes, through My IP Relay Number you can start receiving incoming calls from voice callers. Register for your My IP Relay Number here.

Can I make a relay call from anywhere I can use AIM?
You may place a relay call using My IP Relay wherever you have Internet connectivity. My IP Relay is available 24 hours a day and you may place calls anywhere within the United States or its territories.

When I am placing a My IP Relay call, can I do split-screen?
Presently AOL Instant Messenger does not offer split-screen for relay calling. The conversation displays in standard instant messaging protocol. The upper window will show the entire conversation. New text is entered in the window below the conversation window.

How do I hang-Up?
You can end a My IP Relay call by closing the call window or by typing "END CALL." At that time the operator will disconnect. If you would like to place another call then just click the My IP Relay screen name and start again.
